JOE DADDY BLUES

Joe ‘Daddy’ Warner began his musical journey playing on the boardwalk of Venice Beach, California.

 

After moving up the coast to Ventura County, Joe graduated from playing the streets to performing in west coast clubs & blues festivals. Thoughout the 1990's Joe played with various groups that included, The Step Sons, The Dan Pollack Blues Band, The Signifiers and Little Jonny & The Giants. In the Step Sons, Joe met and performed with his musical blues mentor, Buddy Smith. During this period Joe also backed notable Blues performers that include, Snooky Pryor, Big Joe Duskin, Kim Wilson, Junior Watson, Mitch Kasmar, Little Jonny Lawton and Bonnie Raitt.

 

In 2002, Joe left California for Central Mexico. In San Miguel de Allende, Joe met jazzman, Bobby Kapp. The two musicians formed the Bob & Joe Blues Show and performed concerts and shows throughout Central Mexico. Joe lived in Mexico for seven years.

 

After moving to Albuquerque, NM in 2009, Joe teamed up with bass player, J.D. ‘Jeff’ Sipe. The two formed the swamp blues duo, ‘Joe Daddy & Hoodoo Jeff.' When harmonica player, Brian 'Doc' Boggs and percussionist, Chuck Lucero joined the duo evolved into 'The Lost Mesa Swamp Kings.'

 

In 2013 and through 2016, Joe returned to his west coast blues roots and organized the ‘Blues Guild of Albuquerque,’ a group of musicians dedicated the tradition of American Blues. Joe Daddy with the Guild's players hosted a traditional blues jam every Tuesday for 4 years.

 

With the guild’s players, 'Joe Daddy & The Blues Guild'' began performing regularly at clubs an blues festivals throughout New Mexico.

In 2018, Joe put his understanding of the American Blues tradition into a stage production called 'Blues in Time - A musical journey through the Evolution of Blues in America'. This ten act musical narrative, sponsored by the New Mexico Jazz Workshop, was wildly received by a sold out audience at the Albuquerque Museum of Art Amphitheater. Scripted and directed by Joe, the performance featured 16 of New Mexico’s top musical performers, including 6 vocalist & 10 musicians.

In 2019 Joe up once again with Jeff Sipe, added harmonica virtuoso Jody Vanesky and drummer/ percussionist, Will Hanley to form The Amazing Honeyboys. In 2020 Joe collaborated with Jim Casey (guitar), Milo Jaramillo (bass), JD Davis (drums) to form 'Joe Daddy & The Soul Twisters', features the powerhouse vocals of Toni Morgan 

(formerly with Gladys Knight).
